# hostname_is_apexly

Hostnames under Apexly zones cannot be added.

## What it means

The hostname is under a zone Apexly uses itself (`apexly.dev` and the CNAME targets under it). Those names already belong to us.

## Why it happens

- The CNAME target from a domain object was sent as the hostname.
- A test was written against `*.apexly.dev` names.

## What to do

1. Add your customer's own hostname, for example `careers.acme.com`.
2. For tests, use a test key with any hostname; see [Test mode](/docs/guides/test-mode).
